The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol Suite to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private public academic business and government networks of local to global scope that are linked by a broad array of electronic wireless and optical networking technologies.

In this book we have tried to discuss Internet Marketing also known as digital marketing web marketing online marketing search marketing or e-marketing is the marketing generally promotion of products or services over the Internet. Internet marketing is considered to be broad in scope because it not only refers to marketing on the Internet but also includes marketing done via e-mail and wireless media. Digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management ECRM systems are also often grouped together under internet marketing. Internet marketing ties together the creative and technical aspects of the Internet including design development advertising and sales. Internet marketing also refers to the placement of media along many different stages of the customer engagement cycle through search engine marketing SEM.

Also Electronic Commerce commonly known as e-commerce e-Commerce or e-comm consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. It is more than just buying and selling products online. A large percentage of electronic commerce is conducted entirely electronically for virtual items such as access to premium content on a website but most electronic commerce involves the transportation of physical items in some way. Online retailers are sometimes known as e-tailers and online retails is sometimes known as e-tail. Almost all big retailers have electronic commerce presence on the world wide web.
