The Prithvi Sukta which is part of the Atharva Veda, describes Earth as a living entity. In the Prithvi Sukta, the poet has addressed the Earth as mother and described himself as her son. According to the Prithvi Sukta we should always speak in agreeable tone whether in villages forests and assemblies. The principle of all inclusiveness contained in the Prithvi Sukta is as relevant today as it was during the time of the Atharva Veda. The irrevocable relationship between the man mother and maker established in this hymn is indeed incomparable. (jacket)
