The genus Mesodorylaimus has world wide occurrence and with its about 150 known species, is one of the most difficult groups of dorylaim nematodes. The present treatise on the morphology and taxonomy of this specious genus provides a detailed history of the genus, its morphology with emphasis on characters of taxonomic importance, a complete list of species with their synonymies, key to all the valid species and descriptions of species described so far from India. It is hoped that with this monograph in hand, one would be able to identify members of the genus Mesodorylaimus occurring commonly in soils as well as freshwater samples.
