Chunati Wildlife Sanctuary is under pressure for human settlements and other developmental activities. Though the area was declared as protected area, effective conservation efforts were initiated only during this decade. Effective conservation needs a sound knowledge of the diversity of flora and fauna, sites and habitats for different species. Bangladesh Forest Department, Arannayk Foundation and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, have taken initiative to conserve biodiversity of the Chunati Wildlife Sanctuary through the project “ Management of Natural Resources and Community Forestry (MNRCF-Chunati)” with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As a part of this venture, faunal diversity of this sanctuary has been monitored by Wildlife Research Group, Department of Zoology, Jahangirnagar University. This book is the outcome of this research and can be used by conservationists, researchers, both amateur and professionals throughout the country. The main objective of this book is to register faunal diversity of Chunati Wildlife sanctuary with photographic documents which can also be used as a pictorial field guide. Present conservation issues of this sanctuary are also included which might be useful for preparation of management plans. All the photos included in this book are photographed in this sanctuary by the team members as stated in each photo.
