"The multidimensional book builds up the argument thus: man has degraded environment but is slowly realizing the mistake; he needs the natural resources both living and non-living, yet cannot exploit them at will; there are vast resources in and around Antarctica which are too hazardous to be exploited especially the mineral ones; despite a legally valid international regime in Antarctica, it is not universally accepted; since Antarctica affects and in turn is affected by global climatic changes, it becomes everyone's business to participate in the regime in some manner; mining has been banned in Antarctica for fifty years but Antarctic environment needs to be kept pristine for all times to come. An ethical argument is built in favour of declaring Antarctica a 'World Park'". (jacket)
