"Technical Manpower Profle 1995 : India and the States provides a variety of statistics and information which are latest upto the end of December 1995. The statistics presented in this issue are largely based on data generated and maintained under the NTMIS. The data available from other agencies such as All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Education and Planning Commission have also been accessed for the preparation of this profile.
"The data are analysed and presented sequentially in such a way that important relationships among relevant parameters at the national and individual state levels become obvious. Some of the important parameters on which information has been furnished, in the profile are population, number of engineering institutions at degree and diploma levels, intake capacity for engineering courses at degree and diploma levels, labour marked conditions, magnitude of unemployed, outturn at 10th level and 10+2 level, number of eligible candidates for admission per seat in engineering education at degree and diploma levels, shortage of teachers, and teacher-student ratio in degree and diploma institutions.
"The profile also presents forecasts of manpower requirements for select major categories of engineers, both at degree and diploma levels, at the national and state levels, absorption pattern of different categories of engineers in different states, intake into and outturn from various courses at degree and diploma levels and stock of degree and diploma holders in engineering."
