The major objective of launching this publication is not to replace other authoritative annual reviews, but to highlight both basic and applied knowledge of plant physiology in its broadest coverage. In essence, the emphasis is to present more or less generalized knowledge extending from physiology of single plants to a community of plants (crops), wherever possible. We strongly feel the need of such synthesized knowledge of plant physiology for scientists who are working in the disciplines of botany, plant physiology, plant biochemistry, plant pathology, agronomy, horticulture and environmental biology, particularly in developing countries."
