A Grammar of the Sindhi Language/George Stack.A Grammar of the Sindhi Language/George Stack. Reprint. New Delhi, Bahri, 2001, viii, 172 p., $17.

"A Grammar of the Sindhi Language by George Stack has an historical significance as against the grammars written by post-stack grammarians of Sindhi. The book is presented without any change in its original format to maintain its historical value.

"Sindhi is written in Persian script in Pakistan as well as in India, though writing this language in Devanagari is also being encouraged after it found its place in the Schedule VIII of the constitution of India. Stack uses Devanagari in this book to explain or introduce the Sindhi sounds and words instead of using Persian or Roman scripts.

"There is no geographical area in India that can be named as Sindhi speaking since a majority of the Sindhi speakers have migrated from the Sindh province in Pakistan during the partition, yet we find a sizeable Sindhi population spread across the country, especially in the states of Rajasthan and Maharashtra. This reprint of the old grammar of Sindhi will help the scholars of Sindhi in a long way." (jacket)
