“This book contains research articles of various eminent anthropologists and social scientists of India on development prospects and issues of tribal and indigenous people. Some of the main issues addressed in this book are unequal access to and inadequate educational opportunities, persistent and increasing burden of poverty, inequalities in access to health. The convention of the International Labour Organisation on indigenous and tribal peoples in independent countries entered into force in 1991. This convention emphasizes that indigenous and tribal people shall enjoy the full measure of human rights and fundamental freedom. The book critically examines various indigenous issues in context of ILO convention No. 169. This book provides deep insight to various dimensions of issues relating to development of indigenous and tribal people of India.”
