From the foreword: "This book is compiled from the results of a study conducted in Terai Arc Landscape from March-June 2002 by Rajendra Suwal a well known bird researcher of Nepal. The information from this book can be used as baseline data to support a long term monitoring program for Terai Arc Landscape. Regular monitoring of TAL avifauna will provide information on the trends of bird diversity, abundance, habitat change, status of globally threatened species, threats to birds and their habitat. This book can also be used by amateur birders, as environmental education material and by students to further their work on birds in the Terai Arc Landscape."
