"Orchid Memories is the first book brought out in commemoration of the legendary orchidologist, the late Gunnar Seidenfaden (1908-2001). Apart from an editorial appreciation of Gunnar Seidenfaden and his works on orchids, the book also contains a special article on the origin, arrangement and utilization of Seidenfaden orchid collections in Copenhagen and 17 other articles by leading orchidologists.

The book contains descriptions of two new species of orchids-Didymoplexis seidenfadenii Sathish and Ormerod and Porpax seidenfadenii Nageswara Rao; one new name-Bulbophyllum orezii Sathish; eight new combinations-Acianthera caldensis (Hoehne and Schltr.) F. Barros, A. Hystrix (Krzl.) F. Barros, A. iguapensis (Schltr.) F. Barros, Anathallis dryadym (Schltr. ex Schltr. and Hoehne) F. Barros, A. gehrtii (Hoehne and Schltr.) F. Barros, Specklinia subpicta (Schltr. ex Schltr and Hoehne) F. Barros, S. trifida (Lindl.) F. Barros and Thrixspermum crassilabre (King and Pantl.) Ormerod: two new status-Maxillaria rupestris forma brevis (Hoehne and Schltr.) F. Barros and Eulophia alta forma flavescens (Schltr.) F.
