The Ferns of Nagaland/N.S. Jamir & B.R. Rao. 1988, 426 p., 90 plates, tables, $63.
"The present work from the state of Nagaland is the first consolidated botanical account and is the result of botanical exploration and study of flora by the authors during 1978-82. The need for such a work has been felt by botanists for over a century, as there are no significant contributions on this group after the publications of Beddome (1863-70, 1892).
"Pichi-Sermolli's (1971) system of classification has been followed in presenting the taxonomic treatment of the 280 species belonging to 98 genera and 37 families in this work."
(N.S. Jamir is on the faculty of North-Eastern Hill University.
R.R. Rao is Deputy Director in Botanical Survey of India.)
