"Asia possesses largest share of mineral resources in the world, much of which remains untapped. The mineral industry has to gear up and accelerate the pace of exploitation of its mineral resources to meet the increased demand of raw materials for the development of key industries which will help in improving the economy of Asian countries. MGMI is hosting the 1 Asian Mining Congress on the theme of "Asian Mining Towards a New Resurgence" to focus on the prospects of mineral development in Asia.

The proceeding volume collates 84 technical papers being presented at Plenary sessions, Country Status reports and a rich variety of papers by eminent experts on different facets of development of technology for mining, mineral processing, environmental and social issues, health and safety issues and other topical subject areas presented at the Congress.

Apart from contributions by eminent experts from Indian Mineral Industry, there are useful contributions from other Asian Countries such as China, Iran, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand and Turkey. The proceeding volume is enriched by valuable contributions by experts from Australia, Germany, South Africa, Sweden, U.K., U.S.A. etc. Hopefully, the rich fare of contents of this volume will be of abiding interest."
