"The present book comprises some historic documents in the form of letters, memoirs, lectures and other information about Tagore's prolonged association with the Maharajas and other royal dignitaries of the erstwhile Princely State of Tripura spanning the long period of about 55 years (1886 to 1941). All these documents bear eloquent testimony of Tagore's great attachment to the royal members of Tripura and Tripura's reciprocal responses have left a remarkable and distinct imprint on his works. The present book will, therefore, highlight Tripura's spiritual as well as cultural contact with Bengal." (jacket)
