Shulamith Firestone's "The Dialectic of Sex: A case for Feminist Revolution" became a major text in second-wave feminism in the U.S. "The Feminine Mystique" depicted the roles of women in industrial societies, and in particular the fulltime homemaker role, which Friedan saw as stifling."
