"The Quintessential Discourse of Radhasoami (Sar Bachan Radhasoami, Poetry, Volume II) by the Revealer of the Radhasoami Faith, Sri Shiv Dayal Singh (alias) Soamiji Maharaj (1818-1878) has, like the first volume, 21 Discourses, from 22 to 42. Discourse 22 explains the difference between Kaal-mat and Sant Mat and talks about the state of the worldlings who are drifting in obliviousness and delusion.

Discourse 23 brings out the process of creation and the importance of the path of Surat-Shabd-Yoga for enabling the jivas to reach their ultimate destination.

Discourse 24 is the dialogue between Maya (Madam Bubble) and the Satguru, the sad plight of the scholiasts and the self-styled Vedantins; it points out that even the objective of Vedanta can now be realised only by pursuing Surat-Shabd-Yoga.

Discourse 25 sheds light on the errors committed by Vedantins and their failure to comprehend the mystery of Radhasoami Faith.

Discourse 26 is a detailed dialogue between the surat (the quintessence of soul) and the Satguru who answers all the questions put to him by the surat and spells out the characteristics of a true saint, sadh and a recluse (who wears coloured clothes -- saffron and other colours -- a pretender) and then brings out the details of spiritual spheres: One Thousand-Petalled Lotus, the Sphere of Three Prominences, the Sphere of Spirit, the Rotating Cave and Sattlok, which is the abode of saints.

Discourses 27 to 30 deal with lovesickness (virah), the quest for Satguru and his congregation, the bliss and beatitude the jiva receives from the company of the Satguru, prayer and aarti at the lotus-like feet of the Satguru. Discourse 31 points to the negative traits of the mind and the sensory and motor-organs of the jiva, and obstructions placed by Kaal in the course of spiritual practices.

Discourse 32 is surat's imploration to mind for help and the mind's reply. Discourse 33 refers to the Cri de Coeur of the jiva-surat to Satguru for help and for his grace and compassion of surat's ascension.

Discourse 34 contains Satguru's warm and positive response to the call of the surat. Discourse 35 gives details of the various spiritual spheres which the surat has to traverse.

Discourse 36 explains the greatness and grandeur of Satguru, and Discourse 37 expresses the surat's gratitude to Satguru for redeeming her.

Discourse 38 deals with the complete story of man from conception to the end of human existence in 12 parts called as Barah Masa, from the month of June-July (Asaadh) to May-June (Jeth).

Discourse 39 explains the significance of Basant and Holi, two festivals (in February-March) celebrated ardently by the adherents of Sant Mat. Discourse 40 relates to the swinging season of July-August. Discourse 41 contains hymns which are apparently paradoxical but have certain basic spiritual truths.

Discourse 42 explains the significance of the diverse modes of service rendered by ardent disciples to the Satguru.

It is an indispensable reference work for all keen seekers who wish to comprehend the mysteries of the Sant Mat, or Guru-mat, or the Radhasoami Faith." (jacket)
