"We at the CNF thought the best way to celebrate 60 anniversary of India's independence would be to collect the reminiscences of people who went through years of nation building during the past six decades. Therefore, we selected largely people who had some reminiscences of this process. We feel this will be a great reminder to the people of today how India was build. And how many more miles the nation has to go in the coming years.
With the performance of India during the six decades is being often described half full/half empty conveying that there is a mixed reaction from people today. As compared to the other developing countries, India managed to establish political institutions to govern its people. The concept of unity in diversity a new phenomenon in the contemporary political thought is a unique contribution made by India and it is being implemented effectively. Similarly, by a unique policy of state intervention in the process of development enabled the country to place the experiences of famine/drought as a part of history. Today Bengal famine is a part of history.
The macro economic indicators of independent India are strong and enable the country to boast about industries like knowledge industry and information technology industry.
