Blurb: "Sixth International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition, PETROTECH-2005 which was organized by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), has proved to be the biggest PETROTECH ever, in its 10 year history.

PETROTECH-2005 Conference was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. During his inaugural address, Dr. Manmohan Singh said "There is a national consensus to strengthen the domestic oil and gas companies and enable them to emerge as global firms". He said "Hydrocarbons continue to remain the most important source of energy, even though science has enabled newer sources to be tapped. While we must continue to invest in the exploration and harnessing of newer sources of energy, we must recognize the fact that we will remain greatly dependent on hydrocarbons in the foreseeable future. Hence, investing in more efficient and equitable utilization of hydrocarbons ought to be an important objective of our policy.

PETROTECH-2005 has been unique in many aspects. It attracted 3862 delegates including 315 from abroad and bad representation of 405 companies from 46 countries.

The Conference Programme comprised of 4 Theme Sessions, 7 Plenary Sessions, 28 Technical Sessions and 6 Poster Sessions."
