"This edited publication is a result of the findings presented at the workshop "Himalayan Biodiversity: Conservation Strategies" organised by this Institute in October 1992 at Srinagar (Garhwal). Besides the research articles, the book also incorporates analytical essays, reviews and excerpts of the discussion on different aspects of the subject matter. It focuses on status of Himalayan biodiversity at different organisational levels and in a wide variety of life forms, magnitude of threats to focal areas/taxa and the priority issues and likely options of developing useful, effective and practically feasibly conservation strategies.
