Abul Hashim was the secretary of the Bengal Provincial Muslim League in 1943-47. Under his dynamic leadership the Bengal League grew into the middle class based organization in both urban and rural areas. After the left this post in February 1947, he worked for a ‘United Bengal’ along with H.S. Suhrawardy and sarat Chandra Bose at the critical moment of history. Hashim moved to Dhaka in 1950, and became one of the leading figures in the language movement of East Bengal in 1952.
