 Avinasi: A Historical Sanskrit Novel

The present work, entitled Avinasi, is a historical novel in Sanskrit. Here in this book the complete text of the novel in Sanskirt with its English translation has been presented.

So far the technique is concerned it is entirely a new exercise in this direction in Sanskrit.

The story of this novel is based on an epoch making event of the Indian history in the first part of the seventh century A. D. The kingdom of Pragjyotisha known as Kamarupa also, is referred to by the former name in the two epics, while it has been mentioned by both the names in the puranas, and also by Kalidasa.

The mythology says that Naraka, the son of the Mother Earth and Varaha-Vishnu was the adopted son of Janaka of Mithila. On attaining the age of sixteen Narak, accompanied by Mother Earth and Vishnu came to Pragjyotishapura. In a fiercc battle Naraka killed Ghatak, the reigning king of Pragjyotisha and usurped the throne. Vishnu, putative father of Naraka, while appointing Naraka on the throne advised him to remain steadfast in his devotion to Kamakhya the moment he would lose faith on Her he would be destroyed. In course of time Naraka came into contact with Banasura and lost faith on Kamakhya. He was killed by Krishna. His son Bhagadatta fought against the Pandavas in the battle of Kurukshetra and was killed by Arjuna. His son is Bajradatta, and the line of succession is followed.
