From the preface: "This study presents a detailed systematic account of the ‘Orchidaceae of Nagaland’ based on 63 genera, 241 species and 4 varieties, with a critical evaluation of the various taxonomic features provided for these taxa; keys for identification; up-to-date nomenclature; detailed descriptions with illustrations; geographical distribution; concise notes on ecology, morphology, importance and uses, conservation and cultivation.

"It also presents an introductory chapter on the history of previous works on the Orchidology of India, particularly Nagaland; an introduction to Nagaland as regards its location, physiography and climate; a suitable bibliographical account; index of the scientific names and some photographs.
