From the foreword: "This catalogue contains paintings and drawings in the collection of Rasaja Foundations. In pursuance of its aims and objectives, the foundation is bringing out a series of catalogues on its collection. The present catalogue on the paintings and drawings of the traditional schools includes a significant group belonging to the British period eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, which represents the transition between the traditional and modern phases of Indian Art.

Paintings and Drawings illustrated here are executed on paper, in traditional Indian styles. However some works are executed in the western water colour technique, popularly known as company style."
