"The present book edited by Dr. Vir Singh is the outcome of the National Seminar on the topic The Life and Ideas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh: A Lesson for Today organised by the Centre for Research and Publication of Surajmal Memorial Education Society, New Delhi. It explores the recent thinking about the evolution of ideas of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the Indian National liberation struggle.
This volume converges on gaining new insights about the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and its relevance for today. It shows the intellectual journey of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. He was a young man who because of his interest in study and his keen sense of history gave to the revolutionary tradition a goal beyond the elimination of the British Rule. A clarity of vision and determination of purpose distinguished Bhagat Singh from other revolutionaries and leaders of the freedom  struggle. His vision was to establish a complete independent republic of the laborers and peasants of the whole of India.
