“In this Book, there are research articles contributed by different authors. To make it more topical and convenient for the readers, articles are divided under four parts women and their Socio-Economic Problems; Women Trafficking and Problems involved therein; Education and Women Empowerment, and Gender Sensitization. To understand the Problem of women empowerment more women academicians had contributed their knowledge, understanding and research findings on problems, issues and such other activities affecting women today.

These problems and issues started right from the family level and also involved as well as affected the entire civil society in which women are not excluded. On the basis of these issues and other facts of life, women of today no longer remain within the confines of traditions, customs and cultures. They moved out or are forced to do so to find ways and means to improve their status by deciding for themselves and do not wait any longer for others to decide their future. Women’s education is surely an in portent instrument to bring about change both in attitude and perception towards women. Thus, the movements have been organized to mobilize public opinions in favour of such positive approach to help women of the different societies.

This book is brought out in order to fill up some of the gaps to the already existing literature on women in general and their specific problems in particular from the North-Eastern perspectives."
