From the Foreword: "Biographies of great composers which are given in 'Sangeeta Sampradaya Pradarsini' by Subbarama Dikshitar is in Telugu. This book contains biographies of 77 Vaggeyakaras composers. It is interesting to find that Subbarama Dikshitar has included Lakshanakar who have given Sanskrit Prabandhas in their work. Composers of Pre-Trinity Period and Post-Trinity Period are also given in the original work which are translated in English in the resent work without omitting any of the composers. Biographies of many unknown composers are given in this work. Dr. Kausalya has added also the glossary to understand the technical terms. This work is commendable at this juncture as authentic information can be had only from works like Sangeeta Sampradaya Pradarsini. Dr. Kausalya has translated in English in a lucid style which is easily understandable to music students and scholars. It is the most work to have translated these valuable contents from Sangeeta Sampradaya Pradarsini into English."
