The dictionary of poultry science has been carefully prepared to give meaning of common terms concerning chickens, turkeys, ducks and quails etc. The detailed information about the scientific terms often avoid lengthy description and explanation but gives immediate information about poultry farming to farmers, students, teachers and scientists. These current terms have been suggested to enable poultry men the world over to understand each while discussing a structure, theory or any other scientific matter. These terms will also help the students in learning the subject more efficiently.

The task of selecting the terms is very difficult. Every word has been given an independent examination and only those which are commonly used or are frequently mentioned in the literature or otherwise interested for special reasons have been enumerated.

Some of the definitions have been condensed, still retaining the main and central meaning. Many terms have been modified by some writers or there is still debate about the exact meaning of some terms specially those which have apparently undergone some evolution of meaning. This dictionary proposes a definition which seems to have been generally accepted by teachers and researchers. I hope the terms defined in this book will encourage the development of vocabulary which will help students, teachers and researchers in perusing further studies in poultry science.
