Ramendranath Chakravorty was not merely an eminent artist of India, he was also a chronicler of his age and to him we owe the ushering in of true modernism in Bengal Art. He was bearer of a style that interwove the oriental with the occidental and brought the first light of modernisation to the art of his times.
