Biotechnology has been received with a considerable degree of skepticism in Indian agricultural circles. In last few years since biotechnology became a priority area for Indian policy markers there have been a series of crucial events that have deeply influenced thinking on biotechnology and the role of genetic engineering (GE) in agricultural production. The book intends to explain the basic aspects of agricultural biotechnology in a simple and lucid manner.
