Built Heritage of Kolkata Police

For most locals, the city of joy provides enough intrigue. That’s probably why they never leave. Visitors arrive and instantly feel a warm sense of belonging.

There is an undeniable charm the city evokes. Certainly, numerous heritage buildings across the city contribute generously to this allure.  

This book is a collection of heritage buildings, many of which are inaccessible to civilians. Most others would be dreaded by civilians. These buildings belong to the proud 166 year old heritage of Kolkata Police, the oldest Commissionerate in the country. 

Kolkata Police Commissioner Soumen Mitra is credited with efforts to restore and renovate these buildings, some of which were in a state of complete ruin. Today they are being used for police housing or administrative purposes.
