"India is a agro-based nation. More than 70% of the population is having agriculture as a means of livelihood. Majority of them are having marginal holdings and a sizeable number are working as agricultural labours, due to small and marginal holdings of the agricultural land. The net yield from this sector is very low. Resulting migration from rural to urban areas, in search of employment. Besides this, natural calamities such as flood, draught, famine and slow pace of industrialization in rural part of the country is one of the factor to lead migration of people.

A large number of migrant people are not having the basic amenities (shelter, food, security, health etc.). In order to survive with this heavy toll they have to increase their family income this leads to the migration of the whole family to the metro/urban centres of growth. In this entire process of bread earning and rearing, the whole family, childrens are also bound to be engaged in family income resource generation.

This book portrays the various issues related to child labour, their problems and rehabilitation. This book will be immensely helpful to the researchers, activists, NGO\'s to have a peep into the inner world of a child as a labour." (jacket)
