Every society in the world faces the challenge of social inequality and deprivation. Certain sections of society are discriminated on the pretext of race colour gender caste and socioeconomic considerations all over the world.
Though its the prime duty of state to ensure equality of opportunities and basic human rights of all its subjects yet the condition of marginalized and excluded sections could not be ameliorated. Many social upheavals occurred and social movements were launched by social reformers during different time phases. As such social mobility and social movements have attracted the attention of intelligentsia. Here in the present volume we have tried to portray a picture of social mobility and social movements from sociological perspective.
