From the foreword: "The present book entitled Creation and Criticism: A Miscellaneous Thought is a collection of articles written by Dr. Shreedhar Gautam during the last one decade. These articles are mainly concerned with literature, education, social issue, and visits he has taken to various countries. But the writer, being a conscious political thinker, cannot refrain from politics in any way. Whatever criticism or analysis he has made of various subjects in this book; they have been guided by his Marxist-Lennist world outlook as well as broad humanitarian values. While appraising plots, characters, subjects and artistic values of novels, stories, poems and other literary works, he has given main focus on ideologically or socially important aspects. He gives vital importance to the literary works which contribute to change society and make a new, free and happy world for which people all over the world have been aspiring and fighting for centuries."
