The literacy programmes are continuously improved in terms of its quality based on the past experiences and research findings. The current National Literacy Mission has given opportunity for initiation of a number of innovative ideas for eradiation of illiteracy and using the literacy in over all development. With this background, an attempt has been made to document the current trends in adult education so as to bring out the strengths of the programmes and to popularise the same among the functionaries to improve the quality of the initiatives.
The book will be useful to adult education functionaries, research scholars working in the field of adult and continuing education, extension services and other social science departments, educationists and general public as it has covered the multi-faced activities involved in the promotion of adult education at various levels."
