Domestic Water Consumption Pattern in Urban Areas: Retrospective and Prospective Analysis
This book has reviewed various water management programmes and policies adopted by Government of India from time to time. These policies had played a significant role in the management of water in India especially the drinking water supply. The issues of the access, equity and quality of the drinking water have been addressed under the various programmes and policies but the poor sections of the society are still at disadvantageous position with regard to these parameters. The book tried to bring out the positive correlation between occupational hierarchy, education and income and the per household and per capita water consumption. The water utilities have failed to observe the efficiency in the water supply systems and hence the inefficiency in the functioning of the utilities is accepted. I feel this book will help to answer many unaddressed questions of access, equity and quality of drinking water in urban areas of the country in particular.
