Ecological and Fisheries Development in Wetlands: A Study of Chilka Lagoon

The Chilka lake, the largest lagoon of India spreading across the State of Odisha is subjected to stress and strain of natural hydrological, biological, geophysical and socio-economic activities of the humans occupies the focal point of any discussion on the wetland conservation ecology of India. In the present book, attempts have been made to understand the realistic condition of the fisheries of Chilka lagoon both in past and during present days so as to get in idea of the present situation and future fate of the lake fishery together with the present condition of the lagoon fishermen, who are enjoying the traditional fishing rights in Chilka lake from time immemorial.
