From the preface: The importance of biological resources are as base materials of any country’s economic growth and development. Surveys and inventorisation of plants of lower Subansiri district present an advantage in managing these resources. Eastern Himalaya comparatively richer. This is one of the 18th hot spots areas recognized in the world. The present publication is an earnest attempt to analyse the flora of known for their plant diversity.

The district is botanically very rich comprising of many genera and species. Though several workers like Panigrahi and Naik 1961, A.R.K. Sastry, K.C. Sahni 1969 had collected plants from the district but their works are not complete or comprehensive to ascertain the flora of the district. The present works dealing with general discussion like introduction, physiography, climate, geography and soil, forest and forest types, botanical history, vegetational type, floristic diversity, references. The taxonomic part deal with key to the families, genera, species and infraspecific taxa. Notes on distribution, frequency, phenology, field numbers, taxonomics notes, local names and their uses are provided. The taxonomic account of 1302 taxa belonging to 637 genera and 152 families from Ranunculaceae to poaceae have been included. Of these 12 new taxa have been recorded from the district.
