Adequate numbers of books on fruits are available throughout the world book markets but this book has unique feature in the sense that the fruits (especially under-exploited fruits of the forests) and their role in livelihood promotion are greatly apprehended here during compilation of the manuscript. The book on ‘Fruits for Livelihood: Production Technology and Management Practices’ mainly highlights over the aspects those are merely concerned in earlier books of the same in kind. In this context, it is a unique book in the field of Horticulture in general and Fruit Science in particular. The current scenario, production technologies and related problems of different important fruits of our country including minor fruits of the forests have been considered carefully during framing this text. This manuscript also emphasizes on the under-exploited fruits related livelihood pattern of the rural and tribal poor of different states of India. The value addition and post-harvest management of different minor fruits are also taken into account during compilation of the chapters on these particular areas.
