This book provides a fresh perspective on the impact of globalization on the industrial sickness specially those in the backward regions of the country. The authors hypothesis is that though the common causes of industrial sickness generally cited are geographical location acute competition market recession infrastructural inadequacy and the likes but why operating under essentially identical geo socio economic conditions some industrial units are sick while the rest are not. With no significant change in the ground situations why in Barak Valley region of Assam some gardens performing so well even two decades ago have gone red now. While this book have not made an altogether different study it has tried to study differently. The author begins a region wise comparative analysis of the impact of globalisation on the performance of tea industry in India. To bring out the true picture of the sickness the aspect of changes in the attitude of the entrepreneurs in its historical perspective has been also highlighted in this book. (jacket)
