The book examines the reasons for under-exploitation of groundwater potential in Odisha and its impact on agrarian economy. The empirical study that includes case studies identifies the socio-economic and organisational and institutional drawbacks in the context of regional variations in groundwater development across the state. Emphasising the importance of proper development, utilisation and management of groundwater to bring about modernisation of agriculture, it studies the organisational, institutional, infrastructural and technological constraints in optimal utilisation of abundant groundwater potential in the state.
