In developed countries, environmental degradation is almost exclusively caused by consumerism. On the contrary, the environment in developing countries suffer loss and degradation primarily owing to man\'s struggle for existence, although his illiteracy and ignorance partly contribute to environmental pollution. Moreover, in the developing world, there are also pockets of industrialization, urbanization and commercial activities whose mode of functioning as well as style of living may be attributed to environmental degradation.
The present study not only intends to assess the negative environmental impact of industrialisation but also examines people\'s perception of the impact of further industrialisation. The study, reveals the possible negative impact and recommends methods for prevention, control and mitigation.
