"This book entitled "International Migration, National Security and Economic Development" critically examines the various issues related to international migration with a special focus on India, China and North-East Asia.

The very first chapter of this book deals with the historical perspective of international migration. It makes an evaluation of immigration on the originating and destination countries in the second chapter. The linkages between immigration and development has been incorporated in the third chapter. The issues of illegal immigration and national security has been incorporated in the next chapter.

The prospects of Indian immigration has been critically examined in the fifth chapter of this book. The comparative study of the Indian and Chinese Diaspora constitutes an important part of this study and has been covered in the sixth chapter.

Agenda for immigration policy, migration and development and immigration of labour in the age of globalisation have been covered in the seventh, eighth and ninth chapter respectively." (jacket)
