Japanese Occupation of South East Asia, 1941-1945: Selected Documents

Critical studies of the Japanese Occupation of South East Asia during World War II mainly based on western sources have resulted in different interpretations of Japanese intentions. This book presents the selected documents from the military archives in India comprising of the translation of Original Orders for the occupation of various countries and the nature of the administration to be introduced .The reports of DMI give details about the reaction of the people to the Japanese rule and their treatment of different ethnic groups. The Interrogation reports of the Japanese officials provide a penetrating analysis of Japanese policy and programme.

It is hoped that these documents may induce the scholars to examine the Indian archives more impartially   to understand the exact Japanese aims and policy.
