This book is an outcome of University Grants Commissions sponsored research study. The book is based on comprehensive field survey of construction workers about their socio-economic profile, their wages, work conditions accessibility of civic amenities, safety and also freedom and rights along with their fellow citizens.

Laws for construction workers was enacted and enforced after a continuous persuasion by intellectuals social activists and trade union leaders. The book examined the realization of the Building and other construction workers act, 1996 and suggested for its better implementation. This is an useful handbook for those who are concerned for the quality life of construction labours, growth of construction industry and development of infrastructure in the country.
