The lectures on the History of Manipur is a collection of four lectures which were delivered at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study at Shimla, by Prof. Gangmumei Kamei an eminently qualified and well read scholar on the subject. The themes of the lectures are historiography Feudalism colonialism and Ethno Nationalism of Manipur. This book is a brief review of the epistemology of history and historiography. The history historical knowledge the philosophy of history historical conscience, the mode of rational analysis or the scientific method constitute what is  popularly known as the historical method. The basic tenets of historical method are the definition of history, nature and objective of historical studies, discovery of the historical facts the reconstruction of the historical past conceptualization, interpretation generalization and periodization of the historical events.
