"In this corrected version of the revised and enlarged edition of the book "Manual of Weed Control", different methods of weed management, namely cultural, chemical, biological, mechanical and regulatory have been included. The range of chemicals with their uses and limitation have also been dealt with. The toxicity hazards accompanied with the use of different categories of herbicides and safety methods that need to be imposed through advisory and statutory measures have been dealt with so that weed control workers become conversant with the inherent dangers and safeguards against the same.
"Also included is a separate chapter on obnoxious weeds of the country, Insecticides Act (1968), residue tolerance and environmental problems in herbicides, future planning on weed control and weed science education and training in India. The useful information relevant to the subject, viz. Addresses of the major companies dealing in plant protection chemicals/plant protection equipment with a list of standards published by Indian standard institutions on crop protection equipment, abbreviations used in weed control including conversion tables etc. are a part of this manual and a comprehensive index have been incorporated to meet the norms of a standard book on the subject.
