"Mytoxins, secondary metabolites of storage moulds, are important bioagents responsible far reaching health hazards of animals and man. They need to be understood by scientist of different disciplines such as medicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, ecology, foods science, veterinary and agriculture and in order to protect the health of man. India being a tropical and subtropical country is likely to be citadel for mycotoxins. In spite of this, much information is not available from India except some research publication. Hence an effort is made to bring all relevant information in the form of book. It contains two parts. Part A deals with general aspects of mycotoxins which includes taxonomy of mycotoxigenic fungi, analytical techniques, toxicology and management practices. The Part B deals with individual mycotoxins. Each mycotoxins covers producing organisms, biosynthesis, isolation and detection techniques, natural incidence, toxicology, mechanism of action. Generally interspersed with illustrations design to reinforce the key concepts containing contributions of some distinguish scientists. In the end extensive literature is provided. The present book serves as reference for persons in the fields like medicine, environmental biology, pharmacy, food science, biotechnology, veterinary and agriculture."
