The book entitled ‘Novel Microbial Approaches in Decontamination of Xenobiotics’ is dedicated to Prof. V. Rangaswamy, my Ph. D guide. This is a research oriented book in the field of microbial bioremediation with special reference to agrochemicals, textile dyes, polythenes, plastics and polymers. The content in the book mainly focuses on role of different microorganisms, both marine and soil in decontamination of organo pollutants. The book covers various strategies adopted by microflora in clean up of polluted environment. It describes the importance of bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes etc. in treatment of polluted ecosystems. The book emphasises on various analytical techniques used in evaluation of biodegradation potential of the soil and aquatic microbes in control of environmental hazards.
