This 15th volume of the People’s Linguistic Survey of India seeks to portray the history and evolution of Malayalm, the majority language of the state. It also looks at Dweep Malayalam, spoken in Lakshadweep, which varies considerably from the variety spoken on the mainland. The volume also looks at the tribal languages spoken in the state and tries to adopt a people’s perspective towards its description.
