In the present era, when climate change and global warming are the major concerns, biodiversity and its conservation are matters of global importance. The proper documentation and study of the flora of any region are prerequisites for its conservation. The green campus of an educational intuition plays an important role in spreading environmental and biodiversity awareness among the students in particular and the common people in general. Sprawling over an area of 50 acres, the Meerut College Campus (MCC) supports a significant diversity of plants.

The present work describes 93 common tree species found on the Meerut College Campus (MCC) in Meerut, which are the important components of the MCC campus flora. These species belong to 79 genera and 38 families. The book presents different morphological features of the recorded tree species. The species are arranged in alphabetical order, providing information on their botanical name, family name, local name, botanical description, distribution, origin, habit, habitat, major chemical constituents, uses, propagation, and flowering and fruiting period.

The campus flora has high importance to the students and the general public, not only environmentally, economically, industrially, and historically, but also spiritually and medicinally, for it maintains human life through direct and indirect benefits. Most of these species find wide use in areas of the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

The main objective of the book is to document tree diversity, provide a comprehensive pictorial field guide to students and the general public for easy identification of plants, and make available the knowledge required for supporting proactive action in plant documentation, diversity estimation, description, distribution, origin, habit, habitat, major chemical constituents, uses, propagation, flowering, and fruiting periods.
